Last week, we participated in the Lions Charity Cup 2023 at the Donauwörth Gut Lederstatt Golf Club — and once again served as a sponsor! We’ve been supporting the Lions Charity Cup as a sponsor for several years now. In line with the motto “Do good and talk about it,” we’d like to share a few impressions from this special event.
This extraordinary event was not just about sporting achievements but, more importantly, about helping those who need our support the most.
The proceeds from this year’s Charity Cup will go to Ukrainian war orphans. At the “Lutherhaus” in Pruden, Romania, 29 children aged 4 to 14 have found refuge. They are lovingly cared for, educated, and taught there. These children fled to Transylvania in 2022 with two caregivers at the start of the war and receive no government support. To ensure they can stay together and are properly cared for, they rely on donations.
Last year, Hans Roth, a committed member of the Lions Club Donauwörth, visited the “Lutherhaus” and saw firsthand how well the children are doing. Since then, the Lions Club has been supporting the “Lutherhaus” on a regular basis. As part of the Lions Charity Cup 2022, €12,500 was already donated via the Lions Aid Organization to the orphanage team. The funds were used for essential purchases such as a vehicle for transportation and medical visits, food and lodging, and staff costs.
But the support must continue! The cost of living has increased — especially skyrocketing energy prices have pushed monthly expenses for food and lodging to €5,000. This is why we decided to once again support the golf tournament and the Lions Charity Cup this year as one of the sponsors.
The tournament was held at the Donauwörth Golf Club, Gut Lederstatt. The day kicked off with a traditional Weißwurst breakfast, and the sporting competition was rounded off with an evening celebration.
