How Elanders actively prints with the environment in mind
The printing industry faces major environmental challenges – and Elanders is addressing them with concrete measures. As a global company with many years of expertise in print and packaging, we are actively promoting a more sustainable future. This is how we put environmental responsibility into practice:
What sustainable materials does Elanders use?
FSC®-certified paper:
Our print products can be produced on FSC®-certified paper. This paper comes from responsibly managed forests and helps to protect our natural resources.
Environmentally friendly packaging:
Our packaging solutions rely on biodegradable materials and largely avoid the use of plastics. We offer safe and sustainable alternatives, especially in areas such as takeaway and food packaging.
How does Elanders reduce energy consumption?
Solar energy in production:
At our plant in Hungary, solar panels already cover 40% of our electricity needs, saving around 312 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
eSaver energy system:
Similar to a hybrid car, this system uses surplus energy to reduce electricity consumption at large logistics sites by up to 8%.
How does Elanders reduce waste?
Print-on-demand:
We only print what is really needed. This demand-driven production reduces waste, lowers storage costs and avoids overproduction – efficient for the environment and the company.
Renewed Tech programme:
We professionally refurbish used IT equipment such as laptops and servers. In 2024 alone, over 190,000 devices were recycled – equivalent to a saving of over 44,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents.
What are Elanders’ sustainability goals?
We have committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and are striving for net climate neutrality across the entire value chain by 2050. We will officially submit our climate targets for validation in 2025.
Our milestones:
50% reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2030
75% reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2040
